Position:DH@UVA Communications Specialist

Paid position starting ASAP 12 hours/week
Hourly rate: $15
Open to graduate and undergraduate students, and temps

Job responsibilities

Manage weekly content for DH@UVA, including calendar, photos, captions, data entry, and social media; event planning and managment

Skills and abilities

  • Ability to use photo-editing software
  • Ability to create event posters and flyers
  • Concise, energetic writing skills for brief news items, captions, and social media
  • Reliability
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to translate project and software descriptions into DH@UVA data structure

More about this position

As DH@UVA Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for creating and managing the regular weekly content of UVA's digital humanities portal/website and for creating event posters and flyers. You will need to write pithy, succinct project descriptions and compress the importance of an event into a few words for an academic audience. This position also requires that you be well organized, with a history of successful employment in a detail-oriented role. Finally, you should be familiar with photo-editing software and have a good eye for pictorial composition.
